料理旅館ひろ文
山川の気配を宿す旅館改修
京都・貴船に佇む料理旅館「ひろ文」の改修計画である。
夏の川床料理で知られるこの地は、貴船神社を中心に深い森と清流が広がり、自然と文化が折り重なる風土を宿している。本計画では、貴船の風景、川のせせらぎ、そして山から得られる素材を、滞在の中で静かに感じ取ることのできる空間づくりを目指した。
かつて食事処として使われていた既存建屋を、３つの宿泊室へと全面的に改修。各室を庭に面して配置し、大きな開口部によって自然と一体となる空間構成とした。浴室は庭との連続性を重視し、川音に包まれながら山並みを望む、内と外が溶け合う場として計画している。浴槽には鞍馬石やヒノキ、大杉といった、地域の異なる自然素材を一室ごとに使い分け、それぞれの質感と香りを滞在の記憶に刻む。さらに浴室脇には、貴船川の川石による坪庭を設え、山水を引き込んで直接触れられる構成とした。温泉の湯に浸かり、山水で身体を冷ます——五感で山の力を享受する体験を空間に織り込んでいる。
また、改修の過程で倉庫より発見された先代が保管していた欄間や大杉の板材は、飾り棚として再生し、新たな場に旅館の記憶を継承している。
変わらぬ風景と、静かに流れる時間。貴船の空気に包まれながら、訪れた人がふと「帰ってきた」と感じるような、心に沁みる宿泊体験の場を目指した。

A Ryokan Renovation
that Embraces the Presence of Mountains and Water
This project is the renovation of Hirobun, a traditional ryokan nestled in Kibune, Kyoto.
Known for its summer kawadoko (riverside dining), Kibune is a place where the deep forest and clear stream
surrounding Kibune Shrine create a landscape rich in both nature and culture. The concept of the renovation was to create a spatial experience where guests could quietly sense the scenery, the
murmur of the river, and the materials brought forth from the mountains.
The existing structure, formerly used as a dining hall, was fully converted into three guest rooms. Each room faces a private garden and features large openings that dissolve the boundary between interior and landscape. The bathrooms are designed in continuity with the garden, allowing guests to bathe while listening to the sound of the river and gazing at the surrounding mountains.
Each bathing space uses a different natural material sourced from the region—Kurama stone, hinoki cypress, or Japanese cedar—providing a distinct texture and fragrance that leaves a deep impression on the guest. Adjacent to each bath, a small tsuboniwa courtyard is composed of river stones from the Kibune River, with fresh mountain water flowing through, allowing guests to touch and cool themselves after a warm bath. The space invites a sensory experience of the mountains—feeling, hearing, and immersing in nature.
During the renovation, decorative transoms (ranma) and cedar planks once preserved by the previous generation were discovered in the ryokan's storeroom. These were repurposed into display shelves, carrying forward the memory and time layered within the building.
Timeless scenery and gently flowing time—this ryokan aims to offer a stay that touches the heart, where guests feel as if they have quietly returned home, wrapped in the air of Kibune.
