京都・貴船に佇む料理旅館「ひろ文」の改修計画である。夏の川床料理で知られるこの地は、貴船神社を中心に深い森と清流が広がり、自然と文化が重なり合う風土を宿している。本計画では、貴船の風景や川のせせらぎ、山から得られる素材を、滞在の中で静かに感じ取ることのできる空間のあり方を探った。かつて食事処として使われていた既存建屋を、三つの宿泊室へと全面的に改修している。各室は庭に面して配置し、大きな開口部を設けることで、自然と内外が連続する空間構成とした。浴室は庭との関係性を重視し、川音に包まれながら山並みを望む、内外の境界が溶け合う場として計画している。浴槽には、鞍馬石、ヒノキ、竹などの地域の自然素材を一室ごとに用い、それぞれの質感や香りが滞在の記憶に残るよう構成した。浴室脇には、貴船川の川石による坪庭を設え、山水を引き込み、直接触れられる場としている。温泉の湯と山水という二つの水に身を委ねる体験を、空間の構成に織り込んだ。また改修の過程で、倉庫に保管されていた先代の欄間や大杉の板材を再発見し、飾り棚として再生している。新たな空間の中に、旅館が積み重ねてきた時間の痕跡を継承した。変わらぬ風景と、緩やかに流れる時間。貴船の風土に身を置きながら、訪れた人が心をほどくことのできる宿泊空間を目指した。

This project is the renovation of the traditional ryokan Hirobun, located in Kibune, Kyoto. Known for its summer riverside dining platforms, Kibune is a place where deep forests and clear streams spread out around Kibune Shrine, forming a landscape shaped by the layered presence of nature and culture. The project explores a spatial approach that allows guests to quietly sense the scenery of Kibune, the sound of the river, and materials drawn from the surrounding mountains during their stay. A former dining building was fully renovated into three guest rooms, each arranged to face the garden and opened with large apertures to create a continuous relationship with nature. The bathrooms were designed with particular attention to their connection to the garden, forming spaces where interior and exterior gently dissolve as guests listen to the river and look out toward the mountains. Bathtubs were individually crafted using regional natural materials such as Kurama stone, cypress, and bamboo, allowing their textures and scents to become part of the memory of the stay. Beside each bathroom, a small courtyard made of river stones from the Kibune River was created, drawing in mountain water that can be directly touched. The spatial composition weaves together the experience of immersing oneself in hot spring water and cooling the body with mountain water. During the renovation process, transoms and large cedar boards preserved by the previous generation were rediscovered in storage and reused as display shelves, quietly carrying the inn’s accumulated memories into the renewed space. Amid an unchanging landscape and the slow passage of time, the project aims to create a lodging environment where visitors, enveloped by the atmosphere of Kibune, naturally feel a sense of return and ease.
