本計画は、大阪・堺市に開業した 堺スイミー総合クリニック の内装設計である。設計の手がかりとしたのは、クリニック名の由来でもある スイミー だ。物語に流れる「個性」「連帯」「やさしさ」といった感覚を空間に重ね合わせながら、地域にひらかれ、親しみを感じられる場のあり方を探っていった。たくさんの魚の中で、ひときわ異なる存在であるスイミーが新しい関係をつくっていくように、この計画でも、均質な空間の中に、そっと異なる表情をもつ場所を忍ばせている。内科・外科・美容医療などの診療機能を担う各室は、清潔感のある白を基調にまとめた。その中に、やわらかな凹凸をもつベージュ色の空間を差し込むことで、全体に穏やかなリズムと温もりを与えている。このベージュの要素は、建築の「背骨」のように空間を貫きながら、待合ベンチや本棚、診察室への入口など、場所に応じてさまざまな役割を担っている。訪れる人が少し気持ちを緩め、日常の延長として安心して足を運べる、そんな医療の場を目指している。

This project is the interior design of Sakai Swimmy General Clinic, which opened in Sakai City, Osaka. The key reference for the design was Swimmy, the picture book from which the clinic takes its name. By overlaying the story’s themes—individuality, connection, and kindness—onto the spatial design, the project explores a medical environment that feels open to the community and easy to approach. Just as Swimmy, a small fish different from the others, creates new relationships within the group, this design quietly introduces a space with a distinct character into an otherwise uniform setting. The examination rooms for internal medicine, surgery, and aesthetic treatments are organized around a clean, white palette. Into this neutral environment, a beige volume with soft relief and depth is inserted, adding a gentle rhythm and warmth to the overall space. This beige element runs through the clinic like a “spine” of the architecture, taking on different roles depending on its location—as waiting benches, bookshelves, or entrances to consultation rooms. Through the subtle interplay of white and beige, uniformity and individuality, function and familiarity, the clinic forms a calm and welcoming environment. It is envisioned as a place where visitors can gently ease their minds and feel comfortable returning, as an extension of their everyday lives.
