風の彫刻・森の息

神戸六甲ミーツ・アート2025

 本作は、木を削ることで生まれる「かんな屑」を森に吊るし、風に揺れる姿を通して、六甲山の静かな時間を見つめています。かんな屑は、大工の仕事場や製材所で生まれ、ふだんは捨てられてしまうものです。けれどもその一片には、職人が素材と向き合う意志や、森の息づかいが宿っているように思えます。本作では、六甲山や奈良のヒノキから生まれたかんな屑をリング状に結わえ、樹木のあいだに張られたワイヤーに吊るしています。削り、結ぶという素朴な行為がそのまま作品の構造となり、風を受けるたびにきらめき、時に小さな音を響かせながら、森の気配を映し出す繊細なレイヤーをかたちづくります。この作品は、時間とともに変化すること、そして脆さそのものを受けとめる試みです。光や風、湿度や重力といった自然の働きに導かれ、環境に応答しながら少しずつ姿を変えていきます。裂け、色焼けし、ときに千切れながらも、すべてが失われることはなく、静かな生命力を示し続けます。

This work suspends kanna-kuzu—wood shavings produced through the act of planing timber—within a forest, allowing their gentle movement in the wind to trace the quiet passage of time on Mount Rokko. Kanna-kuzu are generated in carpenters’ workshops and sawmills, materials that are ordinarily discarded. Yet within each fragment, there seems to reside an intention toward the material and a trace of the forest’s own breath. In this work, wood shavings made from cypress trees of Mount Rokko and Nara are tied together into ring-like forms and suspended from wires stretched between trees. The simple acts of cutting and binding become the structure of the work itself. As the shavings catch the wind, they shimmer, occasionally producing faint sounds, forming a delicate layer that reflects the presence of the forest. This piece is an attempt to accept change over time—and fragility itself. Guided by natural forces such as light, wind, humidity, and gravity, the work gradually transforms as it responds to its environment. Though the shavings may tear, fade, or sometimes break apart, they are never entirely lost, continuing to reveal a quiet yet persistent vitality.
